For some, living in a home formerly owned by an A-list star holds infinite appeal. For others, several different factors may court consideration while purchasing property anywhere in the world — a spectacular view and a generous living area ranking high on the average checklist. This week, real-estate agents from across the Atlantic are buzzing about a listing that ticks all these boxes.
Julia Roberts has put one of her New York apartments on the market for $4.5 million, ostensibly because she finds herself spending less time in the Big Apple these days. White-walled and very modern, the 2,400-square-foot penthouse looks like it belongs on the cover of an interiors magazine. It has been described as “easy breezy,” with a Hamptons-meets-California-style “beachy” vibe. Decorated with touches of blue and earthy accessories, the house is certainly warm and inviting; with its enviable wood-burning fireplace and uncluttered interiors. Besides, it boasts of three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a generous terrace overlooking the city — perfect for entertaining.
Located in a redbrick post-war building between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the Greenwich Village apartment that the actress hopes to sell at the earliest is diametrically different from her other NYC home opposite Gramercy Park. And while Julia will not be listing that apartment, she is divesting her extensive property portfolio — having also listed a 2-acre oceanfront estate in Hawaii earlier this year.
