Book early to stay at Leonardo DiCaprio’s Central American eco-resort

You know you’ve arrived when you buy an entire island, instead of one palatial mansion in an exotic destination! Not that The LUXE needed any further proof that Leonardo DiCaprio has made it big in Hollywood, but this certainly underlines the fact.

The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actor went diving off the coast of Belize in Central America almost a decade ago and fell in love with the place. “It was like heaven on earth,” says the star, who soon found an opportunity to purchase an island there. But buying an island wasn’t big enough for Leo, who means business when he gives you every beauty-pageant winner’s ‘I want to change the world’ speech. “The main focus is to do something that will change the world,” he says. “I couldn’t have gone to Belize and built on an island and done something like this, if it weren’t for the idea that it could be groundbreaking in the environmental movement,” the star confessed in a recent interview, while sharing plans to turn his uninhabited island into an eco-resort.

Called Blackadore Caye, the 104-acre wild island will be developed into an exquisite luxury resort with villas and infinity pools, though Leo is most excited about the magnificent marine life surrounding the island and the opportunity to assist in restoring and regenerating nature on the island. From the manatee population to the vibrant coral reefs, the A-List star admits that the jewels of the sea are indeed the biggest draw for him.

When the resort finally opens in 2018 and guests begin to check in, we’re guessing the ocean and its A-List admirer will be equally alluring to patrons. To get in on the action, book early!
