Despite making his film debut only last year, Tiger Shroff is already proving to be an inspiration to many. This past weekend, he bagged a trophy for ‘Best Debut’ at the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) Awards in Malaysia — an honour he accepted with the grace and humility that insiders have long associated with his father. Those ‘signature’ qualities aside, Jackie Shroff’s 25-year-old cub is a martial arts enthusiast and his agility has won him praise from even the harshest of critics. With a passion for football and a great gene pool on his side, the ‘Heropanti’ star may have an advantage over other aspiring actors in this department, but he wasn’t born with a genetic advantage in all aspects relating to his career.
By his own admission, Tiger has “two left feet” and wasn’t much of a dancer as a child. “I worked hard,” he confesses, about his journey towards attaining an acceptable level of skill as a performer. Still, being good doesn’t seem to be enough for this up-and-coming celebrity. If his video tribute to Michael Jackson is anything to go by, Tiger takes the ‘practice makes perfect’ adage very seriously — and his homework doesn’t end at syncing steps with his dance gurus. From reading ‘Moonwalk’ by Michael Jackson (published in 1988) to suggesting that he’d like to star in a biopic about the King of Pop, Tiger is pulling out all the stops on his way to stardom. And while for now Tiger may emulate the likes of MJ, we’re convinced he will soon develop a signature dance style of his own. Until then, his sincerity appears to be his signature — and his fans appreciate him all the more for it!
