With a good day on the field behind them, the Kings Xi Punjab players were definitely in the mood to party. And the first Signature After Match Party of the season definitely set the tone for the rest of the campaign. The party was held at JW Marriott in Pune after the match between Pune Warriors India and Kings XI Punjab.
First to walk in was the KXIP skipper Adam Gilchrist who was engrossed in a long conversation with Parvinder Awana. When asked what he thought of the result today, Gilchrist replied, “It’s a great start but we are trying to enjoy one game at a time.” He had very kind words for his team-mate Manan Vohra, who he singled out as a player to watch out for.
The event was kickstarted by a fashion show by Swapnil Shinde. His collection was quirkily titled ‘Alice on Acid’ and his designs reflected that theme. Brazilian beauty Bruna Abdullah was the showstopper for his show. To spice up things, there was an energetic performance by the White Mischief cheerleaders who performed awe inspiring splits with the utmost grace. The fashion choreographer Achala Sachdev managed to coax the KXIP players to walk the ramp. Initially shy, they soon took to the stage with David Hussey even posing like a model himself.
The second fashion show was by Rina Dhaka whose clothes are designed for the modern thinking woman. Red, black and gray were the prominent colours. There were a lot of dresses and work wear that doubled as party wear.
Then it was the turn of DJ Neyhhaa to spin her tunes and had cricketers and models alike dancing to the beats. There were constant requests for songs and it seemed the music was never going to stop. Alas all good things come to an end. With a final song, it was the end to what was a great first Signature After Match Party. Here’s to many more to come.
