Bangalore is quickly establishing itself as one of the most exciting cities in India. It is known as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Asia, thanks to its thriving startup and IT scene. That makes it a hotbed for students and young professionals. All looking for somewhere to find a drink after a long day. Bangalore is also growing its reputation when it comes to tourism. Thousands of foreigners grace its streets every year to drink in the Indian culture. Luckily, they’ll find plenty on offer in terms of nightlife.
Bangalore is one of the few cities in India that isn’t restricted by a strict curfew. Many of the bars and clubs have late licenses, allowing drinkers to party until the early hours. We all know that dancing is a huge part of Indian culture, and the bars don’t let us down! Most have a dance floor to keep revelers happy all night. But, which are the very best party hotspots of pubs and clubs with a dance floor in Bangalore? It was a hard job, but someone had to try them all out! Here are the top ten.
1. Skyye Lounge
This is one of the most popular bars in the city, and for one very good reason. It has the best view in the city. As the name suggests, the bar and dancefloor are located on the roof! Complete with a rooftop swimming pool and specialist cocktail waiters, it doesn’t get much more luxurious. Grab your favourite drink, and watch the sun disappear below the horizon. That’s when the DJ turns the volume up, and the dance floor starts to pump! It’s also a great place to look out for celebrities.
Pebble’s aim is to create a colourful paradise. Branded as a beach bar, this is an underground club with one of the best reputations in the city. Locals and visitors alike love the vibe and ambience here. Once the sun goes down, the room is filled with lasers, strobe lights, and disco balls. It’s quickly becoming known as one of Bangalore’s best night spots.
If you’re looking for somewhere with a more relaxed and chilled-out vibe, head to ABC. It has a cosy and warm ambience, thanks to its unique setting in an old brewery. It’s rustic, charming, and perfect for those who want a quiet drink after work. Of course, it doesn’t stay quiet for long, and this popular bar will open the dance floor as it gets later. For a bonus point, ABC also serves some of the best American and Continental food in the city.
Toit has an infamous reputation when it comes to Bangalore nightlife. Like ABC, it was an old brewery, and much of that raw, rustic decor still exists. Most of the club itself is underground, giving it a dark and mysterious feel. It has been packed out with modern decor, set against the brickwork of the old brewery. It’s quite something! Get there early for the city’s best slice of pizza, and then stick around for DJ.
High is a bar that certainly lives up to its name. First of all, it’s situated at the highest point in southern India, at the top of the World Trade Centre. The views from the floor-to-ceiling windows are simply breathtaking. Secondly, you’ll get a real high from the classic Asian decoration. Finished with soft lighting and cosy booths, this club is a real highlight of the city. As for the dance floor, well it covers more than 10,000 square feet. That makes it one of the biggest in Bangalore.
Opus is a real cultural hit among locals (and the tourists that can hunt it down). By day, it hosts book-readings, art exhibitions, and stand-up comedy gigs. By night, it transforms into one of the city’s best clubs. With regular karaoke nights, this is a sure-fire hit for those looking for a good night. Great food, great drinks, great music. What’s not to love?
7. No Limmits
No Limmits is perhaps the best known bar in the city. With a distinctive luxurious, lounge style decor, it’s one of the biggest in town. Famous for its themed events and evenings (‘Ladies night’, anyone?) the club attracts thousands of partygoers every night. No Limmits also employ expert cocktail makers who will create anything from a Manhattan to a Gin Fizz. This extraordinary bar is a firm favourite.
8. District 6
This bar and lounge has a more relaxed vibe to it, which is perfect for a quick one after work. The wooden interior feels comfortable and homely. Much like Pebble (mentioned earlier), it feels a lot like a brewery. There’s also an outdoor area to enjoy when the weather’s behaving. It feels a little like a traditional European pub, and there’s plenty of great food on offer. As the evening draws in, the lights are turned down, and there’s a small dance area.
Eclipse isn’t what you’d call pretty, and you won’t be able to hear a conversation over the music. But, this is the purest club experience in Bangalore. With minimal and modern design, this club is all about one thing: the music. Here you’ll find most of the trendiest club-goers in Bangalore. It’s known for playing the best music in town, with a true underground club vibe. This is the last stop of the night, and you’ll stay here ‘til the sun comes up.
Sutra is perhaps the best place in town to spot a few Bollywood celebrities. It is one of the favourite bars of Bangalore’s elite. While the drinks may be expensive, the atmosphere is worth every penny. At least once a week, you’ll find a celebrity or high-profile DJ at the decks too. The club itself is beautifully decorated, with luxurious interiors and elegant design. Don’t leave Bangalore without trying this one out!
