Her birthday parties are the highlight of Britain’s annual social calendar and, true to form, this year too, Kate Moss did not disappoint. Hosting her 42nd birthday blowout as a tribute to the late David Bowie (who passed away on January 10), Kate and her pals rocked the night away in the English countryside. Those who made it to the guest list for the January 16 party confirm that it was a “wild” and star-studded Eighties-themed bash, with Bowie’s greatest hits playing all night.
In fact, earlier last week, the Brit supermodel had asked friends to “channel their inner-Bowie” for her tribute birthday ball. A friend told the ‘Daily Mirror’ newspaper: “Kate was devastated to hear about David’s death. So guests will channel their inner-Bowie and 80s attire. She wants the party to be a celebration of his life as well as hers. Kate loves dressing up and has invited all her friends.”
With Boy George dancing the night away in the absence of Kate’s bestie Sadie Frost (who was in Goa this weekend), it was certainly a night to remember. One made all the more poignant because it honoured Kate’s close bond with Bowie — whom she once stood in for at the BRIT Awards, collecting a trophy for ‘Best Male Solo Artist’ in his name, while wearing his famous Ziggy Stardust leotard!
