The kings of improvisational comedy were prefixed by our very own funny Malayali from Bangalore, Ashwin Mathew.
Ashwin with his unique “Mallu” antics and ascent started off appreciating Hyderabad’s traffic (non) sense. As compared to Bangalore where both people and traffic are MAD! Says Ashwin, Hyderabad has such amicability in Madness of Traffic that every one finds their wrong way out without getting mad at each other unlike B’lore where everyone gets mad at each other and also drive recklessly!
His characteristic comparisons between Mallus & Bongs were very well received. Simple antics like the tendency to press the elevator button multiple times when the person waiting for it has already done that before and pointing to the wrist while asking for time from another in normal human ways were “itemised” by Ashwin. Ashwin also reiterated the unusual tendency of Indian mothers when their kids tell them that they “LOST” their lunch-box to ask back “Where did you LOSE your lunch-box?”
Without much ado, Ashwin set the stage for the real stars of the evening.
The ability of Colin & Brad to make comedy out of something as impromptu as Microphone Dysfunction shows the naturalism of Improvisational Comedy.
They began with their WLIIA inspired ‘Move me’ act where C&B were puppets who could only talk and their acts were prompted by their Puppet Managers who were “volunteers” drawn forcefully from the house! With both the managers not being able to match their act with the humor of the duo, the house was an uproar of laughter on the on-stage generated wit!
