Bangalore abounds with pubs, bars, and microbreweries. There’s one for every taste, mood, and budget. Check out the most affordable options.
When you think cheap and cheerful in Bangalore, Pecos instantly springs to mind. It’s known for its affordable beer – most tables order pitchers and towers – and the classic rock that plays all day. The original is off Brigade Road and there are now branches in Indiranagar and on St Mark’s Road.
Also in the CBD is Guzzler’s Inn, on Rest House Road. One of the original and older pubs of Bangalore, this one has a loyal clientele. They come here not just for the pocket-friendly beer, but also for the old world charm of the place.
Indiranagar is packed with upscale bars with prices to match. Doffpub, off 100 Feet Road, is an exception. The drinks are attractively priced here. The foosball table is another attraction.
Located on Double Road, Jive is another Indiranagar pub that’s pretty pocket-friendly. It may not be the most stylish place in town, but you’ll have a good time and keep smiling when the bill arrives.
Koramangala, with its student population, is packed with places that appeal to young people on a budget. There’s Elongo’s in 7th Block, that is high on the popularity charts. The music is a big hit here and so are some of the bar snacks. You can get a pint of beer for Rs.75 at Elongo’s.
Spiritz is what you might describe as a ‘local bar’. It doesn’t flaunt any frills but is the perfect choice for end-of-the-month outings when wallets are slim. There’s a branch in HSR Layout.
Jugs is a cool hangout in 6th Block with a pleasant, laidback ambience. Along with the attractively priced drinks – a pint of beer costs Rs.150 – Jugs also has games and music to keep you entertained while you guzzle away.
