There is something utterly charming about spending a sunny afternoon or a starry evening at a rooftop restaurant with your loved one. The slight nip in the air is perfect for these open-air restaurants in Pune.

Trikaya

This award winning pan-Asian restaurant is tastefully done up with statues and murals. The open-air terrace with flickering candles and flowing fountains is perfect for special occasions or to simply unwind. Apart from Thai and Chinese, the menu also offers Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese dishes. Our best bets are the Basa In 5 Willow Sauce, Pot Roast Lamb and Prawn Laksa. Portion sizes are humungous. So order wisely, unless you want to relish the leftovers at home.

Level 12

If sitting under a moonlit sky with stunning views and scrumptious North Indian dishes to gorge on is your idea of a perfect evening, then Level 12 is your haven. Located on the 12th floor of Double Tree by Hilton, this is the only rooftop restaurant in Pune with a pool thrown in. If you can take your eyes off the view, the food is worth indulging in. Start with the complementary snacks of three types. Whatever you do don’t miss the Waterless Pani Puri, Kachche Ghade Ka Paka Murg and the Malai Kulfi stick. The venue also hosts live Sufi music nights. Kids are not allowed at this place.

Paasha

Perched on the 24th floor of JW Marriott, Paasha is the highest rooftop restaurant in Pune. The North Indian delicacies served here are lip-smacking and the dimly lit ambience is mood enhancing. You can still enjoy the breathtaking view indoors courtesy the huge glass walls.  Don’t miss the Chilgoza Aur Akhroot Ki Seekh, Barrah Kebab and Dal Paasha. Music can get a bit louder as the night progresses.

Open Window Café Bistro

If the noisy college crowd isn’t bothersome, this is one of the most pocket-friendly roof top venues in Pune. The décor is young and quirky and the menu holds some great continental and Italian food with beer and shakes. The Cheese Chilly Toast, Buffalo Wings and Nachos will haunt your greedy dreams. Hook up with your mates over a game of cricket on the big screen or just cozy up with your spouse. Either way, Open Window is a smashing spot.

The Flying Saucer Sky Bar

It may be one of the largest standalone bars in India, but that’s not the reason we love this space. It’s the eye candy from the rooftop of Pune airport’s runway. The food is a joyful journey through the culinary atlas of the world. The Veg Quesadilla with Salsa and Sour Cream is stupendous as also the Chilli Cheese Poppers. But the absolute hero of the menu is the Peri Peri Chicken Wings served with potato wedges. Don’t miss the sunset.
