There is nothing better than enjoying your favourite game on the big screen, with a bunch of raucous friends and a few drinks. These cool bars and pubs are just right to gang up with your buddies and enjoy the IPL 2018 matches that kick off this weekend.

Pot Pourri, Chembur and Vashi

Great food and drinks is an indispensible element of a good night with friends. And Pot Pourri has it in abundance with its array of international cuisines and value for money drinks. Start with the bruschettas and wine down with the Crepe Suzette. The quirky interiors (trumpet, typewriter, miniature cycles, bikes, etc) add to the experience. But the best thing here is the deals - unlimited starters (3 veg and 3 non-veg) at Rs. 400 plus taxes. There is unlimited draught beer at Rs. 500. But if you plan to go sober then try the Virgin Mojito, Spicy Guava and iced tea.

Where: Cubic Mall, Vasant Vihar Complex, Chembur East. Call: 096995 09699. Also at Inorbit Mall, Vashi

Bar Stock Exchange

This fun and boisterous bar that allows customers to trade in alcohol and spirits, with prices starting from as low as retail prices is a great place to down a few drinks while cheering for your favourite IPL team. India’s first stock market-based pub chain TBSE makes a mean Basil Thai chicken, Tandoori lollipops and BBQ chicken wings. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the ticker and snag your favourite drinks when they are at their lowest.

The Stadium Bar

This newest entrant on the bar scene in Mumbai has a stadium like feel which is bustling with eclectic energy. The music rages from EDM, Bollywood, House, Rock, Pop and Sufi. Watch out for live gigs and stand-up comedy acts on certain days. Grab a seat in the massive crescent-shaped lounge which looks straight out of a Hollywood movie with a huge mural of Michael Jackson. The ingenious use of hanging lights on bicycle wheels, 120-ft. high ceiling and huge glass windows create a vibrant and relaxed ambience for an entertaining night out. The lip-smacking fusion cuisine includes delicacies like baked Vada Paav, Cheddar Dimsums, char-grilled wasabi chicken and more.

Sambar Pub & Kitchen

At SamBar the fun starts with the name (a pun on the south Indian curry of lentils and mixed vegetables and also Sam the Bar). The interiors awash with fish nets and hand-painted Kathakali art teleport you to a bar in God’s own country. The lungi sporting servers add to the delusion. It’s nicely noisy with a backing score of the current chartbusters. Blame it on the happy hours when drinks fly at Rs 99. There is a TV and a projector screen to enjoy live sporting action. Food is South Indian staples like Kori Rotti, Goli Bajje and fries spiked with gunpowder.

Where: SamBar Pub and Kitchen, 8, Vora Building, 3rd Road, opposite Khar Education Society, Khar (West); Call: 9820907212

The Stables, Andheri

The Indian outpost of the popular Dubai gastro pub The Stables is decked out in horse racing paraphernalia. It’s spacious, with plenty of tables, bar stools and rich mahogany leather booths just waiting for you to sink into. There are live acts on Fridays and Saturdays. The bar snacks are distractingly tasty. Go for the Fritto Misto, heart attack burger and pizzas. Top marks for the attentive staff, bringing plenty of water and bowl after bowl of popcorn – both essential after a few drinks.

Where: Peninsula Red Pine Hotel, Andheri East, Marol, Mumbai. Two minutes walk from Airport Road Metro Station. Opposite Hotel Leela, Mumbai 4000059. Call: 022 30151747
