The Indian National Convention and Awards will take place on Monday, Sept 26, capping two days of seminars and sessions, at the first national nightlife convention. Awards are to be given in 10 categories, with one nominee representing each city. Eight cities are in the running in the first year. In the first of a series of articles we feature the Best Lounges. They are a mix of places that have that intangible - vibe, as well as those that execute a mean cocktail or a great shared portion of bar snacks. Here are the nominees….

Mumbai - Asilo
The rooftop bar at the St Regis has sprawling views of the Arabian Sea, the racecourse and the ever-changing skyline. With a distinctly summery vibe, the setting is a great spot from which to catch the sunset, or dance the night away while noshing on their impressive grills selection and well-thought drinks.
Kolkata - Roxy
The trendy Roxy is one of only a handful of clubs in Kolkata, but its location in the Park hotel guarantees a great experience. The mood lighting, comfortable nooks and a great sound system makes this the place to spend your night out in Kolkata.
Hyderabad - Air Café Lounge
The outdoor seating and stunning sunsets make this the ideal place to spend an evening in Hyderabad. In posh Jubilee Hills, the lounge combines rustic wood and brick with pops of colour - and serves an eclectic menu of Chinese and Italian food.
Bengaluru - Shiro
Imposing, larger than life statutes are what everyone remembers after leaving Shiro, but the lounge serves an ever-changing menu of Asian food, and puts together some signature tipples that are sure to loosen up even the stiffest post-work crowd.
NCR - S Bar and Restaurant
This Mediterranean inspired lounge is known for its live sufi music and intricate wooden grills. Serving Moroccan and Mediterranean food, S Bar and Restaurant, with its inviting corners and unhurried atmosphere, is a favourite of those looking to catch up with friends, or for a great night out.
Pune - Paasha
Paasha at the JW Marriott has both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a well stocked bar and impressive eats. Serving North Indian food, this fine-dine is more restaurant than lounge - but with impressive views and a transportive atmosphere, it’s made a mark on Pune.
Goa - After Seven
On a busy stretch of Calungate, After Seven is hidden away in the garden of a bungalow. Serving Continental and French food, the candlelit tables and quality food ensure that this remains a well kept secret for those who can find it.
Chennai - Chipstead
At the Taj Coromandel, Chipstead offers a luxury experience that includes hard to source single malts and inventive cocktails in a setting that is elegant and plush. Round out your drinks order with some finger food to make sure your tipple doesn’t go to your head.
