It’s that one night of the year on which you just don’t want the party to end. And what better place than a beach! We’ve rounded up the best New Year’s Eve parties from across the world and in India.
Rio de Janeiro rocks
Rio is the beach party capital of the world. No doubt about that. It’s summer down there in December and a great excuse to skip the otherwise fabulous bars and clubs and hit the beach. Copacabana sees two million revellers and a firework display you’ll remember all year. Plus, Champagne sprays as the clock strikes midnight. How about that?
It’s summer Down Under as well and Sydney-siders, not to mention thousands of visitors, gather to welcome the new year at the lovely harbour that is the stuff of picture postcards. Boats carrying revellers skim the waves as fireworks light up the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the iconic Opera House. You can have your own private party on the boat, join the crowds at the edge of the water or head to one of the islands that all become party zones on New Year’s Eve.
Hong Kong gets super-hot
Hong Kong may not have a regular beach, but the water front and the dazzling skyline serves as the perfect setting for an all-night party on New Year’s Eve. You can join the countdown fireworks over Victoria Harbour on the water front or go clubbing at one of the city’s many hip bars. The rooftop bars are hot destinations for New Year’s Eve parties and there’s even one of the 118th floor!
San Diego splashes out
It’s different from the Times Square ball drop in New York, but San Diego pulls out all the stops on New Year’s Eve. You can party on board a luxury yacht and feel like a celebrity, dance the night away on the beach or spend the night at the city’s Gaslamp Restaurants which are all decked out for the festivities.
What other cities can do, Dubai can do and, often, do it better. New Year’s Eve bashes are no different. The city with its fantastic skyline and shopping, takes the party to the beach front of the famous Atlantis on New Year’s Eve. Think endless Champagne, great food and dynamic music gigs from all over the world.
Goa grabs the fun
Can’t make it to Rio or Sydney? No need to fret. Good ol’ Goa pulls out a super party every New Year’s Eve. Entire stretches of beach become a party zone. The music rocks and the crowds are super cool. Imagine dancing on the sands, the surf lapping at your feet!
