Even the most hardened cynic sees the magic of New Year’s Eve. Here’s how to make it even more memorable and romantic if you want to celebrate it with that someone super special.
1. Do it Hollywood star-style
This one’s for lovers of uber-luxury. Order the limo, book the best table in a gourmet restaurant and make a very elegant night out of it. Dine on foie gras and oysters, dark chocolate and strawberries and don’t forget the Champagne. As the New Year arrives, raise a toast with a tumbler of the best whisky.
2. Go wild for the night
Romance doesn’t have to be about candle light and twosomes. Hit the buzziest party in town and dance the night away. There isn’t anything more romantic than being in a venue packed to the edges and still pretending you’re the only two people in the world.
3. Get away to a gorgeous destination
Don’t want to be in the midst of countdowns and swirling crowds? Pick a romantic destination and pack your bags. A quiet beach resort, a wildlife park, a spa can all make for a very special New Year’s Eve celebration with your honey.
4. Ring in the excitement
Do you mostly spend romantic occasions with wine and serenades in nice restaurants? Then New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse for a shared adventure. Plan and go scuba diving together. White-water rafting together can be a super way to share the thrills with your partner. Hot air ballooning, mountaineering, challenging treks and rappelling are other exciting options.
5. Home alone
If you’re a couple that absolutely loves the comfort of home, add oodles of romance and ring in the New Year. Cook a meal – adding a few aphrodisiacs – together, put the wine to chill, dim the lights, set out candles and play soft music. Eat and drink and remember all the lovely moments you shared through the year. Dance in your living room and say ‘I love you’ and ‘Happy New Year’ at midnight.
