If you’re looking for a great way to spend some time with your friends and family, we suggest you organise a karaoke party at home. The music, the fun, the food and drinks, and everyone singing and having a good time, is just perfect. With the New year’s eve is just a few days away, there is no better time than now to organise a karaoke party. So bid adieu to 2016 and ring in 2017 with your family and friends at home. It might seem a bit complicated to start with, but with these tips we are sure you will organise a wonderful event.
Send out invites:
Make a list of friends and family members you want to invite, and send out invitations a few days in advance. Ask them to let you know if they can make it, so that you can arrange food and drinks accordingly. Make sure your list has people who like and enjoy singing so that they can help you start off the party easily.
Get the right equipment:
One of the most important things of organising a karaoke party at home is to have the right equipment. Nowadays, it is not necessary to have a karaoke machine or hire a DJ have a great party. Mics, laptop, karaoke song app/website, TV, and sound system, is all you need. You could try karasongs.com or the Karaoke Anywhere app (available on iphone and android). Just plug in your phone or laptop to your TV and connect the mic and other cables, and you are good to go. But make sure you test it before the party begins.
Set the scene: Now you have the necessary equipments in place, so the next important thing is to set the the scene for the party. Move away all your furniture, and create a stage area. Deck up your living room. Create a dim lighting, and include disco lights for that bar room like feel. Make a separate space in your living room, where you can arrange food and drinks.
Food and drinks:
No party is complete without food and drinks. Ensure you have enough food and drinks (alcohol, cold drinks, or other beverages) to serve your guests. Since all of them will be busy singing and drinking, it is good to have more of appetizers for them to much on. Stock up the fridge with water and ice cubes, and cupboards with snacks.
Assign a karaoke jockey:
Yes, you are the host, but you can’t really be the host and be the KJ at the same time. It doesn’t work well that way. So assign someone to be the KJ, and ask him/her to make sure there is music playing all the time. Tell them it is their responsibility to encourage the shy ones, and ensure that no one person hogs the limelight.
We believe a party in incomplete without games as well. Plan some fun games for your guests. You could ask them for suggestions, too. There are many games like Don’t Forget The Lyrics, Name The Singer/Song, Sing Song Mix Up, etc. Your could choose from the existing ones, or create your own.
If there are games, there should be prizes as well. Inform your guests that you will give away prizes, and they will be ready to take part in the games (if they weren’t before you broke the news). Announce the prizes after every game, and tell the KJ to keep a tab on that. Give away consolation prizes, too. Nobody should leave the party empty handed, isn’t it?.
Last but not the least, make sure you click a lot of pictures. You will cherish these memories for a lifetime.
