From ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ to ‘The First Wives Club,’ we’ve handpicked 10 films that celebrate the magic of friendship on celluloid. This is our top list when it comes to movies that mark the power of three — sourced (as we’ve said before) from our pool of home-grown hits and blockbusters from across the Atlantic.

Read on for our second-instalment of this two-part list and remember to post comments on any notable films we may have missed!

When it comes to ‘asli yaari,’ age is just a number. Nothing portrays this better than Jon Turteltaub’s 2013 film about three friends who take a break from their day-to-day lives to throw an unforgettable bachelor party (in Vegas) for their last remaining single pal. With Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline playing best buddies to groom-to-be Michael Douglas, this is one film that will leave you hoping for friends like these in your dotage!

Last Vegas - Asli Yaari

This 1986 movie — featuring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short — is the tale of a trio of unemployed actors who accept an invitation to Mexico to replay their bandit fighter roles… unaware that this gig it is the real thing! The film has come to be synonymous with friendship because the Spanish word ‘amigo’ itself means friend or comrade.

Another coming-of-age drama, Zoya Akhtar’s 2011 film had Hrithik Roshan, her brother Farhan and Abhay Deol playing three friends who go off on holiday together as an extended bachelor party for Deol’s character and end up rediscovering themselves — and their ‘asli yaari’ — while in Spain.

Bette Midler, Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn play a trio of women bonded by adversity and freed by their friendship in this 1996 film by Hugh Wilson. It may sound like a ‘chick flick,’ but we’d recommend a watch nonetheless.

By the last film in this series, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are all grown up with kids of their own. Their terrific tale features witchcraft and wizardry in a battle against evil, but at the heart of it all, this series is about how friendship and love can truly conquer all!

AND HERE’S WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: If you’ve missed the first half of our list of 10 films that believe three is company and celebrate the spirit of ‘asli yaari,’ be sure to read it and share your thoughts!
