1. Moulin Rouge (2001)
Based on the beautiful musical setting of the Montmartre Quarter of Paris, the story talks about a young English poet/writer who falls in love with the lead actress of Moulin Rouge who also happens to be a cabaret actress and courtesan. The stage is decorated in vibrant red colour, there is a hint of drama looming in the air. We bet you will love it so much, that you can watch this over and over again.
2. The Sound Of Music (1965)
This movie is one of my all times favourite and for all the right reasons. The songs are enchantingly written, the character portrayal of the von Trapp family is evergreen, so much so that people still talk about it. Based on a true event, the movie features the story of Maria who is an aspiring nun who is sent to take care of seven children. The plot thickens when the Nazis decides to take over the von Trapp family’s motherland.
3. Hairspray (2007)
If there’s one thing which is crafted to its finest in terms of story, music, and cinematography then it is this musical romantic comedy Hairspray. It is based on the story of an overweight teenager who overcomes all hurdles to become a television superstar. Plucking all the right cords of the audience, this movie will truly make you feel invincible when you’re down in the dumps.
4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Have you ever tried watching a musical horror comedy film? Well, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is something that will be worth your while. The story revolves around the strange things which happen to them.
5. Mamma Mia! (2008)
This jukebox musical romantic comedy is a class apart. It is uplifting and all kinds of cute all at the same time. Mamma Mia portrays the story of Sophie who is supposed to get married soon. As her family is prepping up for the big event, she invites three men who were her mother’s past lovers, hoping that she would find her father. Mayhem happens when all the three men come back to win back the mother’s love all over again. You will know how awesome it is once you see it yourself.
