If you’ve ever watched the 1990s show Cribs, you know what its like to live like a celebrity – humongous mansions with more rooms than the neighbourhood hotel, spiraling stairways, massive swimming pools, space-age technology – basically, the works. However, there’s one part of celebrity homes that I think hasn’t quite received its fair share of attention – the home bars. As you will realise as you read through this list, several celebs have put in a lot of thought to create a home bar that matches their personality and preferences – a perfect place to unwind or entertain. So go on, read about the international celebrities that have us awestruck with their home bars and tell us what you think!
Donald Trump: Classic luxe
While it’s no-go zone now, Trump had previously given us ordinary mortals a peek inside his luxurious residence, Mar-a-Lago located in Palm Beach, Florida. The indoor bar is one of the highlights of the home – a classic design with mahogany wood, plush leather and gilded gold. The bar has the ambience of a sophisticated yet understated watering hole, where you’d expect members of high society to make multi-million-dollar deals over a martini or two.
Matt Damon: The bar with a view
The outdoor bar at Matt Damon’s Miami home has been the stuff of legends – it is located by his private pool and as the story goes, has an outstanding view of Biscayne Bay. Blue sky above, the sight of the sea meeting the horizon and sunshine everywhere, sounds like the perfect setting! Unfortunately, Damon sold the house recently – but I am sure that the new owners are enjoying the bar just as much.
Khloé Kardashian: Most organised celeb bar
This Kardashian recently gave fans a tour of a home bar – and what stuck out was how very organised it was (the title of the video does give a hint – ‘How I Keep My Home Bar So Organised…”) Her spirits collection was painstakingly organised by type, size and colour—some serious organisation goals there. There were also separate spaces for mixers, cocktail umbrellas, shot glasses, ice buckets, tongs, bar nuts and all the other paraphernalia. The highlight? The dedicated Ciroc Vodka fridge that is personally attended to by her friend, the fabulous P. Diddy. Glad she loves Ciroc as much as we do!
George Clooney: Customised and how
If you’ve been reading the news, you’ll know that Clooney jumped behind the bar to pour guests tequila drinks at the recent Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It’s no wonder then that his own personal bar is extremely interesting. Apart from including his own brand of Tequila (but of course) and a vast Tequila range, there is also Clooney’s personalised bottle of bourbon that is custom etched to resemble him. The bar itself has a great vibe, decorated with pictures of Hollywood memorabilia, including pictures of both his and Frank Sinatra’s versions of Ocean’s Eleven and a model of his Fantastic Mr. Fox character.
Jason Derulo: The incredible bathroom bar
Superstar singer Jason Derulo (who broke onto the scene in 2010 with his song “Ridin’ Solo) has a home which features several bars located in different spots, but the most extravagant of them all is his bathroom bar. As he told People, “It would suck to come all the way downstairs if I wanted a Mojito. So, I could have my Mojito upstairs if I want, or I could have some wine. It’s just about convenience.” It’s also definitely the most opulent bar that could be, with gold accents, lion statues and crystal lights.
Neil Patrick Harris: Magic tricks & the New ‘Fashioned’
Our favourite Neil Patrick Harris (remember the rockstar of a character Barney from How I met Your Mother?) has a bar that matches his on-screen persona (big boots to fill!). His lavish home boasts of a fully-stocked vintage bar, where he loves to bartend. He is known to dish out some crazy magic tricks, along with his signature cocktail known as the ‘New Fashioned.’ Well, we’d love to try one!
Melissa Joan Hart: A shot glass collection
Best known for her portrayal of Sabrina in ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ – Hart’s in-character bar become quite famous after she showed it of on a TV show. The bar was themed along the lines of the show and named accordingly too – a “Witches Brew” sign hung over it, such a cute detail! Interestingly, Hart is a huge collector of artisan shot glasses and collects one from every place she goes to. Basically, she has a huge collection from all over the world that decorates her bar! As the story goes, Hart’s love for shot glasses led he to personalise and gift shot glasses to each cast and crew member on the show Sabrina as well.
