With a new version of her iconic show slated to hit TV screens in the US later this month, Gillian Anderson is poised for a busy year. She has recently finished filming ‘Viceroy’s House’ in India, where she plays Edwina Mountbatten opposite ‘Downton Abbey’ star Hugh Bonneville (who essays the part of Lord Mountbatten). The Gurinder Chadha film is due for international release this year. Then there is Gillian’s commitment to theatre for the year, with her continuing as Blanche DuBois in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire.’ TV series ‘The Fall’ will have her tied up until March and, as if that wasn’t enough, Gillian is also busy writing two books.
Not surprisingly then, the prolific actress has a simple resolution in mind as she kick-starts 2016: “To be less busy,” she laughs. With so much already on the cards, Anderson is hoping to cut down on her commitments as 2016 wears on. Being big believers in the pause ourselves, we wholeheartedly support some R&R. A trip back to India perhaps — with the lazy backwaters on her itinerary this time, as opposed to the palaces of Rajasthan?
