Of late, karaoke has become an essential element of most parties. Even for sport stars then, this is no exception. The tennis ace, Serena Williams, calls it to be ‘the best singing sports’. Just a week ahead of the US Open, Serena Williams shunned her racket for a microphone and set the stage on fire; no surprises there. This top-ranked athlete performed on ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ at Arena in New York. It was quite impressive to see the star attempt falsetto and high notes in the song.
Serena is a karaoke enthusiast and prefers the 80’s and 90’s rock soundtracks as she believes these tracks suit her voice the best. Later, she was joined on the stage by the American reality television star, Laverne Cox. Williams and Cox grooved and sang ‘Say My Name’ by Destiny’s Child together.
We know that singing is the healthiest form of human expression, and with all the fun and frolic abounding in this party, we expect Karaoke to be a feature event for many such mainstream events.
