Whether you’re dieting, detoxing, in training or just generally trying to look after yourself, a big bowl of green, leafy salad with all the great produce the season has to offer is the best way to go. Apart from filling you up, it also keeps you hydrated in the summers. Here’s a round up of the restaurants and cafes with the best salad offerings.

Ministry of Salads

Best Restaurants For Salad Seekers

This brightly lit place, located in the tony neighbourhood of Breach Candy is bringing the 'sexy' into the salad. The drill is pretty simple - You take your pick from the fresh ingredients and hand it to the salad man to toss it. Every salad is not just breathtaking to look at, but also hugely delicious. The must try here include the Lentil salad of Puy Lentils, Spinach, Roasted Pumpkin, Pomegranate and Almonds with a Dijon Honey Mustard Dressing and the Thai salad of Raw Papaya, Mixed Leaves, Peanuts, Glass Noodle and a Sweet Chilly Lemon Dressing. Sip on the Banana Yogurt Berry Smoothie with Granola Crackers or the Pomegranate celery and ginger cleanser. This place is really small… so do expect long queues.

Where: Shop 4, Opposite Tata Garden, Bhulabhai Desai Road, Breach Candy, Mumbai. Call: 9769823777/9769802777

The Rolling Pin

Best Restaurants For Salad Seekers

The salad bar here will spoil you silly in a healthy way. Make your own salad just the way you like it. Start with some leafy greens like kale, spinach, baby lettuce and more, move on to some sweet relief with fruits like green apples, watermelon and more. Pick from a selection of high fibre, health grains like barley, bajra, quinoa and others. And because every salad needs a good dressing, pick from delicious ones like parmesan garlic, creamy Italian, orange ginger, etc. Beef it up with gluten free falafel, paneer tikka or silken tofu. Toss in some crunchy elements like walnuts, almonds or exotic toppings like avocado, broccoli, etc. If you're feeling indulgent, spike it with some delicious cheese like Buffalo Mozzarella, Burrata, Emmental or Gruyere. For those who feel railroaded with so many choices, there are set salads that are sure to make you drool. Wash it all down with their summer coolers like mango smoothies and bubblegum shake.

212 All Good

When was the last time you drank cola without cringing or feeling guilty? At 212 All Good, even the spirit menu has its own share of wows with botanical and preservative free sodas and tonic water. The food menu crafted by chefs Paul Kinny and Moina Oberoi is truly spectacular. Try the All Good Caesar Salad with nutty garlic dressing and croutons to see what I mean. Even the shrimp and avocado salad with miso dressing is stellar. Don’t miss the antioxidant juice made of pineapple, cucumber, cilantro, lime and raw papaya.

Saboro Lounge

This all white health café from the house of Mahindra offers a small but interesting range of cold pressed juices, smoothies, salads and desserts put together by a team of nutritionists. There are books too if boredom strikes. Look out for wellness weekends where the outlet organizes yoga session along with a healthy lunch. The must try here include the energizer smoothie with bananas, dried figs and low fat milk and Quinoa salad with chickpeas, pomegranate and bell peppers. If calories permit, do try the Vanilla and basil parfait enveloped in fresh fruit and yogurt.

Smoke House Deli

The salads here are both nutritionally rewarding and delicious. You can even tear into the desserts without the slightest pang of guilt. But lets stick to salads for the time being. My favourite is the kefir soaked chicken with organic red rice and brown rice flakes. The apricot and chili dressing takes this salad a few notches higher. The asparagus, grapes and toasted flaxseeds salad with spiced, smoked figs in balsamic vinaigrette will have you coming back for more. especially if you add bacon to the mix.
