What’s the buzz: If you are like me who falls in love with the beautiful cutlery or the wall art at a restaurant, this newest Asian restaurant in Mumbai is the place for you. Here you can buy and take home all that you like, right from the cool cutlery to the funky furniture to the quirky wall art (for a price of course). The inventory further extends to other edgy products in a special catalog.
What’s Hot: The Asian menu has an interesting spread of signature dishes namely Black Fungus and Bamboo Shoot Salad, Aubergine Fries, Shanghai Pork Dumplings, Thai High Soup and many more. But my go to dish here is the earthy and homey Truffle White Fungus Clear Soup. It warms the heart as only a soup can. The baos with a combination of modern flavours and textures are deliciously juicy, light and full of flavour. I particularly loved the Barbequed Chicken Bao with a dynamite filling of spicy chicken. Don’t miss the dim sums, notably the Sweet Potato ones with an elegant balance of sweet and sour. The Seafood Wontons have both the crunch from the crispy wontons and the lusciousness of the prawns. Simply unmissable. Wrap it all up with the Nutella Sushi.
What’s not: The in-your-face décor with purple walls, colourful horse statues popping out of pillars, eccentric chandeliers and fake planters hanging from the ceiling may seem a bit daunting to begin with if you don’t ease into them. The cocktails are disappointing. I surely expected more from a group that also owns the largest bar in the country (Lord of the Drinks). The Plum Berry Sour was a directionless and crowded drink while the Pumpkin and Cinnamon Fruit Bellini had the two main ingredients missing in action.
Where: Trade View Building, 3rd Floor, Kamala Mills Compound, Senapati Bapat Marg. 8291106972
Cost: Rs 2500 for two with drinks
