Every time I visit Bangalore, I am shocked by how many cool, new places have opened up. Doesn’t matter that I was in the city just a few weeks ago – there are guaranteed to be at least a few new places. With so many options and no much newness, we curate for you the best of the new restaurants and bars on the block.
Burma Burma, Indiranagar: When this Burmese restaurant opened in Mumbai, it instantly became a superhit. It was impossible to get a table, and if you indeed did get one, you’d be expected to eat and quickly leave – no loitering about – so the next hungry person in line could get your table. Burma Burma recently opened in Indiranagar and seems to have already amassed quite a fan following, especially among vegetarians. Must try items include the samosa soup, crispy lotus fried stem and steamed buns. The legendary khow suey is the only main course you should even think of having, it is excellent. For dessert, the ‘kachin rainforest’ mousse is a good pick.
M By Pool, Marathahalli: If you’re looking for a location that offers insane amounts of ambience, this is for you. The recently opened M By Pool, located at Marathahali is a great way to enjoy the amazing weather that Bangalore offers. Tables are set up by the pool on the sweeping lawns. Swaying palms trees give you shade during the day, while the starry night sky gives you company once the sun sets. While the menu selection is limited, the atmosphere and great music will fill you up.
Kazé, Lavelle Road: This fine dining restaurant, which recently opened at Lavelle Road, serves Pan Asian cuisine. This is the perfect place to go for a date or special celebration – the restaurant is sophisticated with great service and food. The highlight is the view - being located on the 21st floor, it is a sweeping panoramic view of the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore Club and more. The sushi is recommended. For those who love their drinks, Kazé has a separate bar which boasts of a list that has been created by infusing the East's flavours into an extensive mix of classics. Do try ‘Lost Angel (with Asian Rum, banana liqueur, sake and more) or ‘Kiku’ (with Vodka, basil, cinnamon and lemon). Kazé has a strict dress code for men so do dress for the occasion.
Urban Tamaasha, Indiranagar: Urban Tamaasha is an elegant casual dining restaurant in Bangalore. Located in the heart of Indiranagar on 100 Feet Road, the restaurant offers range of contemporary North Indian dishes with conventional flavours and modern twists. The colourful ambience and quirky plating will surely get your attention, as will the friendly service. Don’t miss the creamy broccoli soup, which is served in a hardened bread bowl (full marks for being ingenious!)
The Asian Curry House, Malleshwaram: Located at Malleshwaram, the restaurant has a very modern, chic vibe. The menu is rather innovative (and far more extensive than just curry) so don’t be fooled! The Rainbow Soup, made with seven different vegetables is a healthy yet fun option. Follow it up with a bao or dim sums – and then a main course of your choice.
So go on, check out these places – and hurry up! Because more new restaurants and bars will be opening up soon, as always!
