Concerts, clubs, house parties, you jamming alone with your headphones on...EDM makes its way in to music enthusiasts’ playlists with their signature styles. However, there comes a time when you hit shuffle and get something new. It’s almost like restocking your pantry with new treats. We’ve taken the liberty to give your playlist a serious reshuffle as we introduce you to EDX, Vinai and a DJ maestro from our very own country. Bonus: hit play on the tracks from each DJ. You’re welcome.
Why we love them: Maurizio Colella aka EDX is a talented Italian man who gets everyone in a club on their feet. Plus, having Deadmau5, Axwell and other famous DJs on his collaborators’ roster gives him the added benefit of being legit in the dance music scene.
Track you should listen to: High on You
Why we love them: 2016 was a busy year for brothers Alessandro and Andrea Vinai with gigs such as Tommorowland and Summer Sonic Tokyo, among other concerts. Usually, these guys are all about the fire right from the start of their tracks. However, they’ve been experimenting with their style and we’d say, it’s for the best.
Track you should listen to: Into the fire
Why we love them: There’s a different musical appeal to self-taught musicians. Niles Hollowell Dhar aka KSHMR with a flipped ‘R’ in the name, is half Indian— Kashmiri to be specific. This is exactly what drew him back to his roots and he decided to make some desi–influenced EDM beats. But, he still gets to hang out with Tiesto every once in a while to make tracks, no big deal.
Track you should listen to: Jammu
Who: Sultan + Ned Shepard
Why we love them: Tiesto is one of best DJs responsible for bringing the future’s best EDM DJs out in the spotlight. Sultan + Ned Shepard come close a close second. Their chart-topping number Walls caught Tiesto’s ear and that catpulted them to fame. There’s no looking back now.
Track you should listen to: Damn
Why we love them: They’re known for some incredible vocals on their tracks, but BRKLYN knows how to elevate the mood with great production as well. In spite of having worked with the likes of Eminem and Kanye, these guys continue to pursue music on an underground level, which makes them even more appealing for a mainstream reach.
Track you should listen to: Heart of the City
Who: Disco Fries
Why we love them: When Nick Ditri met Danny Boselovic and decided to experiment with electronic music, no one ever imagined that a master piece like Disco Fries was going to hit them. And hit them, they did. Besides producing sick tracks and doing collaborations with renowned EDM names, Disco Fries also have topped the iTunes chart in 2015 with their debut EP ‘Autonomous. EDM fans are definitely excited for new material in 2017 from these guys.
Track you should listen to: Somebody Told Me
