Cocktails can be serious business - as this list of expensive cocktail names will no doubt prove. Made from some of the most exclusive, special (and hence expensive) ingredients in the world, they command a price that would make most people gasp. Many of these ultra expensive cocktails come with jewellery and precious metals or stones - making us wonder why people would buy a cocktail for jewellery? Interestingly, many of these cocktails have fascinating background stories and histories, making them more than ‘just an expensive cocktail.’ You can buy them at some of the world's most luxurious and expensive cocktail bars in India, London, NYC, Dubai, Singapore and more.
So without more ado, presenting the most expensive cocktails in the world! Drool on, we say.
1. The Winston Cocktail - Rs. 8,22,187
Named after Winston Churchill, this pricey libation was created by an Australian bartender. It's made with Grand Marnier Quintessence, Chartreuse Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolonge, a dash of Angostura Bitters and some chocolate nutmeg dust. The price tag comes from the addition of the highly exclusive 1858 Croizet cognac in the cocktail.
2. The Gigi's - Rs. 6,96,255
Created as a tribute to 007 actress Grace Jones, this cocktail is made with a vintage champagne (1990 Vintage Cristal) and an ultra-rare brandy (1888 Samalens Vieille Relique Vintage Bas Armagnac), a combination people describe as 'liquid gold' thanks to the lashings of gold leaf added at the top. It's available at Gigi's restaurant in London.

3. The Ruby Rose Cocktail - Rs. 25,54,020

5. The 'Diamonds Are Forever' Martini - Rs. 10,19,480
This drink is a simple classic, but still commands a staggering price. Available at the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo, this cocktail is made from the bare minimum - a blend of chilled Grey Goose vodka with a lime twist. What makes this so expensive is the 1-carat diamond 'garnish' that comes with it.
6. Martini on the Rock - Rs. 6,38,255
Also known as the 'proposal martini', this drink is available at The Blue Bar in New York City. That's because you consult with a jeweller 72 hours beforehand, and he drops a ring of your choosing in the drink so you can pop the question in style.
7. Sapphire Martini - Rs. 1,91,520
You can get this exorbitantly priced at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. It's described as "a classic martini made with Bombay Sapphire gin (or the client's choice of premium vodka), blue curaçao and a dash of dry vermouth." The glass is rimmed with blue sugar, but the reason it's so expensive is because it comes with a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings on the side.
8. Macallan 55 Single Malt Whisky Cocktail - Rs. 2,60,000
Less of a cocktail, more of a commitment, the luxurious single malt used in this mix is served at the Sky View Bar in Dubai. The drink is made of Macallan 55-year-old single malt natural colour whisky, combined with dried fruit bitters and a homemade passion fruit sugar. It’s served over ice cubes that are made of the very water that runs through the Macallan distillery, and mixed with a custom stirrer from a Macallan oak cask. Last but not least, it’s presented in an 18k gold goblet, which you get to take home.

9. Salvatore’s Legacy - Rs. 4,35,000
In a Guinness World record attempt in October 2012, this cocktail was created by master bartender Salvatore Calabrese at The Playboy Club in London. Its astronomical price comes from the decadent ingredients used – a 1778 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, a 1770 Kummel liqueur, an 1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and a tiny bottle of 19th century Angostura bitters.
This is also believed to be the oldest cocktail in the world, with the ingredients having a combined age of 730 years. During an attempt on the same record earlier in the year, a ‘priceless’ bottle (read: $60,500) of the same Clos de Griffier Vieux was dropped, and smashed.
10. Louis III Rare Cask 786 Smoked Sidecar - Rs.1,30,000
This is one of the most expensive cocktails you can find in India. This limited edition cocktail is made from rare cognac - Louis III Rare Cask 786 and infused with Habanos Cigar smoke, the cocktail is an experience. It is available at the Library Bar, Leela Palace Hotel (New Delhi).
