Who are the VIVO IPL’s most ardent celebrity fans? Find out now!

Virat Kohli with his colossal tally of runs and David Warner with his super sixes may be the stars of the VIVO Indian Premier League, but in the stands, other stars are shining bright. All eight teams have their entourage of celebrity fans — right from Amitabh Bachchan to Sania Mirza.

To find out which celebrities proudly sport team jerseys this season and which others have done so in the past, read on…

Akshay Kumar has brandished the Delhi Daredevils jersey as team ambassador in past years and Nargis Fakhri has rocked their colours too. These days, however, captain Zaheer Khan’s star shines brightest — with three wins out of four games played thus far.

Captained by Suresh Raina, the Intex Technologies-owned team was founded only this year and has yet to garner serious celebrity support. Nonetheless, Keshav Bansal plays his part as their grandstand celebrity cub, enjoying the spotlight as owner of the Gujarat Lions.

Preity Zinta essays the role of team owner and celebrity fan with equal aplomb for the David Miller-captained Kings XI Punjab team. While her dazzling dimples pack in all the star-power needed in the stands, past seasons have proved that even Arbaaz Khan is a Kings XI fan.

Team owner Shah Rukh Khan always has a bevy of Bollywood stars in his box with him, business partner Juhi Chawla being amongst them. This season we’ve seen Raima Sen and Bappi Lahiri cheering for KKR at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, while past seasons have offered up sightings of KKR fans including Arjun Rampal, Rohit Shetty and Priyanka Chopra.

With Bollywood’s biggest names residing in Mumbai, it’s no wonder so many A-list stars make their presence felt alongside team owner Nita Ambani at Mumbai Indians games. Amitabh Bachchan and beta Abhishek have cheered enthusiastically for the MI squad in the past, as have Dino Morea and Yuva Sena president Aaditya Thackeray (who even wore a team jersey to the game). Of course the team’s most ardent celebrity supporter appears to be Anu Malik, in his ubiquitous neon green jersey!

Where Mahendra Singh Dhoni goes, Sushant Singh Rajput must follow — and so Sushant has shed his Chennai Super Kings jersey for Pune’s multi-hued kit this IPL season. Of course that is only to be expected, with Sushant headlining Dhoni’s biopic, titled ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story,’ directed by Neeraj Pandey.

With the VIVO Indian Premier League’s biggest star on the Royal Challengers squad (we mean Virat Kohli, of course), the star power gracing the box seats hardly seems to matter! Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have been ardent supporters of the Bangalore team in previous seasons, and Anushka Sharma continues to follow the team’s performance — for obvious reasons.

Rana Daggubati has long been a supporter of the Sunrisers, sporting a team jersey in the stands for several games. This season, the ‘Bahubali’ star proudly shared pictures of his new personalised kit on April 9, with a message to his Facebook fans that read: “My IPL mood has begun…”! Hyderabad’s most recognised sportsperson, Sania Mirza, is also a squad supporter and has been seen in the audience alongside actors Diana Hayden and Yami Gautam in past seasons.
