OMG! Varun Dhawan Didn’t Sleep For An Entire Week While Shooting For October, Find Out Why
After his rib-tickling double role act in Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan’s fans are eagerly waiting for his next film October, which tells an unusual story. Directed by contemporary filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who has broken the stereotypical norms of commercial Bollywood film, October is a story of a very different shade of love.
Shoojit is also known for getting the best and honest performances from his actors, and to achieve that he makes his actors go through various drills. Varun, who has worked with the director for the first time too had to work really hard so as to get into the skin of his character.
In fact, for one particular scene, Varun was asked by the director to not sleep for an entire week to look a certain way for his character in the film. It was indeed a challenge, but Shoojit wanted Varun to look sombre and wanted the scene to look as natural as possible.
So, he instructed Varun to not sleep for a few days or have minimum sleep of an hour or two every day for a week. Varun being a thorough professional, without any hesitation agreed to follow his director’s instruction.
Shoojit Sircar shared, "Yes I usually do this with many of my actors, used this during PINK as well. A couple of scenes with Varun required extensive emotional burst-outs, a performance that showed him quite exhausted, depth and weight in his overall demeanor and eyes, coupled with a tired voice, so I asked him to not sleep at night prior to the scenes.”
The result was quite spectacular, and one gets to see a glimpse of it in the recently released trailer of the film as well.
Hats off to Varun for pushing the envelope and putting his best foot forward for the character.
October is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar and will also mark the debut of Banita Sandhu.
