IPL Luxe Concierge : Vishakhapatnam

Posted by: Raul Dias on April 06, 2015

For a city of Visakhapatnam’s size, this east coast metro has a lot on tap from its serene beaches and luxurious resorts to oodles of maritime history and great coastal food.

Primarily an industrial city, Visakhapatnam or Vizag as it is informally called is soon becoming a hot tourist destination thanks to its beautiful beaches, scenic hillocks, a lush green landscape and a rich history and culture. The city is surrounded by hills such as the Sri Venkateshwara Konda, Ross Hill and the Dargah Konda. Each of these hills houses the shrines of three different religions. The Venkateshwara Konda houses a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Ross Hill has the Virgin Mary Church and the Dargah Konda has the tomb of the Islamic saint, Baba Ishaq Madina.
Beaches such as the Rishikonda Beach, Ramakrishna Beach, Gangavaram Beach, Bhimli and Yarada beach flank the eastern side of the city. Other tourist attractions include the Kailasagiri Hill Park, Vuda Park, Araku Valley, Borra caves, Katiki Waterfalls Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and Dolphin’s Nose are a few places that are a must visit.
Paying obeisance to the city’s rich maritime history and significance, the Naval Museum that was established in 1989 shouldn’t be missed. Located in the ENC complex, the museum displays Indian Maritime history at its best. A variety of pictures, models of warships and other equipments for offering a view of the rich history of the country are displayed in the museum.
