The story of a rare day when Kapil Sharma failed to amuse!

When he isn’t making you laugh on primetime television, Kapil Sharma is busy being the face of an online exchange platform or performing live in exotic locales. One way or another, the stand-up comedian is laughing all the way to the bank! But, on a rare day last week, LIVEINSTYLE.COM can tell you exclusively, that humour was in short supply for the ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ star.

From what we hear, Kapil’s production house is planning a series of live shows in the US after their recent success with hosting his show live in Dubai. Having already achieved so many of his dreams, Kapil’s next anthem appears to be ‘I’ll take Manhattan’, but the song can hardly be sung until visa approvals arrive. Now ask anyone (even a notable Indian politician) that a US visa isn’t easy to come by. The journey across the Atlantic begins with biometrics, followed closely at the heels by an interview at the office of the US Consulate General. And so it was that Kapil chose the consular outpost at Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex for his visa interview on February 4, but with all his other commitments, couldn’t quite make it on time. Rushing to the door, the man who has made millions with his gift of the gab had a particularly hard time trying to convince officials to let him in for the interview. With officials finding nothing amusing about Kapil’s tardiness, it took much hemming and hawing to get the funny-man past security and into the hallowed halls where dreams are made for visa-hopefuls. Exiting the Consulate a few minutes later—having put the drama behind him, the man who started out in Amritsar can now safely say: ‘Ab Amreeka dur nahi’!
