Rihanna : Tee-rrible for Topshop!

Rihanna is known for her risqué sense of style and her often barely-there clothing choices. But though she’s a fan of itty-bitty bra-tops, the pop star has proved indisputably that she takes T-shirts very seriously!

After finding her face on a tee at Topshop (a British high-street store she often shops at herself), RiRi launched a legal battle against the brand, claiming that their ‘icon tank’ had “damaged her image.” Now it seems she has won the battle and the war because, on July 31, in a ruling that has confused the clothing giants completely, Judge Justice Birss has come down in RiRi’s favour. Though the judge has clarified that there is “no such thing as a general right by a famous person to control the reproduction of their image,” he stated that a “substantial number” of buyers were likely to have been deceived into buying the T-shirt because of a “false belief” it had been approved by the singer. Topshop will now have to pay the icon damages for their deed, with Rihanna claiming a dramatic £3 million. For a tee that’s been on sale for all of £3,this penalty is sure to pinch!
