If you want to believe, believe it — Mulder and Scully are back! Straight from the horse’s mouth, it is in fact David Duchovny who confirms that filming for a new instalment of ‘The X Files’ will begin next month!
“This is something we’ve all been talking about for a couple of years,” says David, who played FBI agent Fox Mulder on the hit TV show for nine epic seasons. “It took a lot of planning to get the three of us — Chris Carter (the show’s creator), Gillian (who plays Scully) and I — to be able to commit to being in the same place at the same time for as long as it’s going to take to do the show,” David confesses.
While he’s been nominated for several awards as the star of adult comedy ‘Californication’ in the meantime, Duchovny admits that recreating that old magic with co-star Gillian Anderson is an exciting prospect. When asked about their famed chemistry, Duchovny suggests they still have it and presents a compelling argument in support: “Chemistry is something that I don’t think you can create, and I don’t think you can lose it. It’s either there or it isn’t. It’s been said that it’s there for us, so I imagine that it’ll still be there.”
That being said, will ‘The X Files’ reinvent itself in a fresh, relevant and modern way, so takers will extend beyond fans who lapped up episode after episode between 1993 and 2002? We will certainly tune in to find out!
