Mandira Bedi : Maiden venture

Long before legions of cheerleaders turned T20 cricket into the ultimate tamasha, a single maiden bowled the nation over. Believe it or not, it has been exactly 10 years since Mandira Bedi made her first appearance on national television in those notorious noodle straps — turning the sati savitri sari into a sexy new wardrobe staple. “I’ve worn so many saris now, I’ve gained a unique perspective on what works and what doesn’t,” the svelte star tells liveinstyle.com. “I’ve been wearing my own designs on and off for some time, and launching a line of saris has been on my mind for ages,” Mandira adds.

With 150 saris almost ready to show and blouses in the works as well, Mandira is geared up to exhibit her first-ever fashion collection at the star-studded Araaish exhibition in Mumbai in early September. She is also shooting for Indian Idol Junior, Anil Kapoor’s edition of the hit TV series 24 and seeing to son Vir on a daily basis. Now that’s what you call multitasking!
