Mallika Sherawat Stirs Controversy (Yet Again)

Post Cannes 2014, Mallika Sherawat is back in news; this time for her movie though! Her latest movie, DIRTY POLITICS’ poster is out which shows Mallika draped in a tricolor following which Rajasthan filmmaker KC Bokadia got in trouble of the political kind! As KC Bokadia says, "Workers of a political party from Rajasthan are putting pressure on me to change the tricolour into some other scrap of fabric."

In the poster Mallika is shown sitting on the top of an Ambassador with a beacon, right outside the State Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan. She is holding a CD in her hand, but is draped only in a tricolor-ed saree!

Talking about the poster and the stir that it has created in the political scene, the director admitted that the poster is provocative, especially since the film is said to be based on Jodhpur's ANM Bhanwari Devi sex scandal. And though wearing the tricolor-ed dresses have always led to some controversy for the wearer in the past, the filmmaker says it is not essentially an Indian flag since there is no Ashoka Chakra in the centre! But then again, resemblance to the colours of our flag is sure to raise many eyebrows.

Apparently Bokadia is said to have been pressurized by some political parties from Rajasthan to change the tricolor worn by Mallika in the poster. Telling about it, he said, "Sincerely, I don't want to earn the displeasure of any political party. I have always maintained that I can be an admirer of one party, but I do not belong to any party. I am just a filmmaker and using my creativity to put forth my point of view. As far as guidelines are concerned, the poster will be censored according Indian Motion Picture Producers Association guidelines. So, I don't know why I am being asked by this political party to change it."

DIRTY POLITICS features Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Govind Namdev, Ashutosh Rana and Rajpal Yadav along Mallika Sherawat , who would supposedly be playing the role of Bhanwari Devi in the film.
