They may have been dressed up as somebody they most certainly aren’t, yet this is the coolest, most unfake event we’ve witnessed in a while! Starting in Australia on April 18 and culminating in California 24 hours later, fans around the world got all togged up in their superhero kits over the weekend, to set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as DC Comics Super Heroes.
From rather more popular icons like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to The Flash, Green Lantern, Batgirl, Supergirl, Aquaman, Cyborg, Robin and even Green Arrow, fans of all ages posed for pictures while they contributed to making Guinness history. Spandex-wearing caped crusaders from across 15 cities in the US, UK, France, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Taiwan and Philippines joined forces to ensure that a previous record established in 2010 was broken.
From past sightings we know, Dwayne Johnson has a Hulk costume and Jessica Alba has once kitted out her entire family as The Incredibles, but neither participated in this event. Still, even though the DC Comics-led drama was marked by an absence of celebrities, we’d have to say everyone in attendance looked like a star! After all, it does take a special brand of self-esteem to be able to step out in superhero gear and let your inner champion be revealed.
