Jonty Rhodes : Jolly Jonty

South African cricket icon Jonty Rhodes is a known Indophile and a self-confessed lover of gulab jamuns, so he wasn’t complaining when an official trip to launch a pizza place and later his new TV series meant that he would spend his July 27 birthday in aamchi Mumbai. Unlike the launch of his show for NDTV Good Times, the birthday boy’s bash was a private affair, hosted at the home of the South African Consul-General. From what we hear, local lovelies Suchitra Pillai and Manasi Scott were amongst the guests. As the advisor-cum-fielding coach of the Mumbai Indians IPL franchise, Jonty’s insider tales were much in demand, with invitees hanging on his every word. Of course the women in attendance had another good reason to stay close — now that the charismatic ex-cricketer is single, he’s officially quite a catch!

South Africa with Jonty Rhodes premieres on Monday, August 12, at 9.30 p.m. on NDTV Good Times
