Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal is always writing notes furiously at every game, but it seems Chelsea’s José Mourinho is the man poised to unveil a book! Slated for an early October release, the book will encapsulate Mourinho’s football journey to this point and, with Chelsea FC ruling the roost as current Premier League champions, there never was a better time. Don’t hold your breath for any deep, dark secrets to be revealed however, because this tome is visualised as a picture book.
“I have been 15 years as a manager,” says Mourinho, while explaining the concept of this book, “I found it easier to choose 100 photos of my memories than to express it through words, as there are no words to describe my feelings of those memories. Pictures are amazing memories and this book will represent those moments.”
If a picture is indeed worth a thousand words we should be excited by this concept, but a tell-all biography would have been far more thrilling. It isn’t forthcoming though, with Mourinho being categorical on this subject. Even last year, when he was named in a controversial chapter of a book by Luis Suárez, Mourinho dissed the trend of publishing insider information just because there’s a market for it. At the time, he had suggested he may write a book, but not one that would “criticise people” or “speak negative things about people who belong to” his career.
While we wait for the judicious José to change his mind and spill the beans, we suggest fans line up for Headline Publishing Group’s endeavour — Mourinho’s first-ever official book release.
