In Session: 2Blue Interviews Four Celeb Couples… Realizes Love Conquers All
I spoke with 4 beautiful couples: Diana Hayden and Collin Dick, Bumblefoot (of Guns N’ Roses) and Jennifer Thal, Nikhil Uzgare (of Point of View) and Archana, and Teejay Sidhu (of 94.3 Radio One) and Karanvir Bohra. I realized one thing. At the core of happiness is love. You may be a beauty queen, a rockstar, or just the guy next door. It’s only love that can complete you. So here’s my sincere wish. May you find love this Valentine’s Day. May you celebrate it with reckless abandon for the rest of your life. And may you be inspired by the stories of these beautiful people.Click here to read the first story.
Former Miss World, actor, model, motivational speaker, grooming expert, philanthropist, and author are just a few ways you may know Diana Hayden. I know her as all of the aforementioned, but most of all… as a music fan. In 2013, Diana met Collin Dick; a high flying corporate shark in FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. They got married recently. Here’s how they found love. Let’s find out both sides of the story, with the lady taking the lead.
Diana: In 2 days, I was moving from India to the US; in 2 days Collin would have his new rented apartment in India and could move from the US. The landlady/tenant meeting was necessary before the final signatures. We met, we hit it off, and became friends. I moved out, he moved in, and we both got on with our lives. The friendship grew as we talked over text messages. The text messages soon became phone conversations. Collin now admits that if he hadn’t gotten on the phone, he’d still be a single man.
We soon learned of our mutual love of country music… mine old-school because of my grandfather, his more new country. Blake Shelton is often heard around the house today. I didn’t believe most of what he said about himself and his strong values as I had heard it all before. Then when I went on a random trip to Vegas, where he was from, he asked me if I would meet his parents and carry his credit card back with me to India. When I met his parents, I fell hard. They were proof that he was indeed the person he said he was. I returned to India. My work got extended forcing me to stay here for a month. We were now almost sure, this was ‘it’. We traveled together to Jordan soon after, and fell head over heels. We decided to get married a month later. So I returned to the US to pack up my apartment and get rid of my stuff. While I was on a flight returning to India, Collin flew to Lebanon and back, in one day, to surprise me with my engagement ring. I knew before, that I had made the right decision, but that, was my final confirmation!
Collin: We got engaged officially on our 3rd ‘monthiversary’. We celebrate our monthiversary on the day Diana met my parents. She said “Yes” and I put that ring on her finger, and we danced to what was in 6 months time going to be our wedding song 'I Finally Found Someone' by Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams. Tell you what, we’re still dancing.http://www.rediff.com/
Next - Jennifer Thal and Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal share their love story.
Jennifer Thal is a veterinarian. She is married to the Guns N’ Roses lead guitar player, Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal. Here, she reminisces about their first date.
Ron and I met when I was in college. I was trying to get into veterinary school and so had to keep my grades up. My friends thought I was too much of a bookworm. So they tried to set me up on a blind date. They told me about this guy, Ron who was a guitar player in a band and that he was going to be very famous one day. This didn’t impress me. I didn’t need a boyfriend to distract me from getting into vet school anyway. Our friends were very persistent though, and we both eventually agreed to the blind date.
When I met Ron, I thought he was really cute. Based on the description I was given, I expected him to be a dumb, self absorbed band guy. They didn’t tell me he was smart, interesting, and really nice. It turns out they told him I was a blonde aerobics instructor, not a straight-A pre-vet student. So he had pretty low expectations of me as well. So we were both sitting there with nothing much to say when I decided to do something that usually made guys run away screaming. I asked him what he thought of the apparent asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the universe. I was floored when he had an answer. This was how it started. 24 years later we are still celebrating Valentine’s Day together. Speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
Next: Frontman of the rock band, Point of View, shares his story.
Nikhil Uzgare is a Dubai-based entrepreneur. More importantly, he is the striking frontman of the rock band Point of View. While most rockers have been known to be reckless when it comes to relationships, here’s one who is clearly an exception.
I always thought I was unlucky in love. Back in the day, I had a reputation for dating women who ended up marrying men settled in the US… so much so that I wanted to advertise my dating profile to women interested in moving to the States. Then I met Archana at my workplace. I tried hard to be funny… just to attract her attention. Later I learned she used to find my humor very annoying. Well, I continued to exercise the “persistence overcomes resistance” method. Being a musician didn’t seem to impress her whatsoever. But I did figure that she knew her music (Pink Floyd, Whitesnake, Guns N’ Roses et al). Soon I wrote her a song, which is now – with her kind permission – on my band’s debut album. It’s called ‘Unreal’.
May be it was the song, may be it wasn’t. In any case, Archana is now my wife and the mother of our beautiful daughter, Samaia. February 2014 makes it 6 years of conflicts, disagreements, and unconditional love. So you see, I’m not that unlucky after all.

Teejay Sidhu is an actor, model, radio jockey, and film producer amongst other awesome things. She is married to actor Karanvir Bohra. Here’s what she had to say about their love.
Karanvir and I met for the first time at Mount Mary’s church in Mumbai. Before leaving, I gave him a warm hug and said, ‘Take care. Love you. Bye.’ I meant it in a friendly way but all he heard was ‘LOVE YOU!’ After that, he made such a sincere effort to get to know me. I thought he was very sweet but also very persistent. I was impressed just how one meeting made me the centre of his world. After 5 months of dating, he asked me to marry him. He promised me a lifetime of adventure. He sure has lived up to his promise. We’ve been married for 8 years and we still have so much fun together. My fondest memories of the time we were dating are from our long drives during monsoons, listening to music. They were so very romantic. I introduced him to Edith Piaf, my favorite French singer. He introduced me to ‘Strangers in the Night’ by Frank Sinatra (I still love that song). We’ve always bonded over music. Now that I host a radio show, he’s my biggest fan. As for Valentine’s Day, it’s always the start of something new in our lives. Last year on February 14, we started shooting a film together called ‘Love You Soniye’. This year, we’re starting another project together. Evidently, the adventure continues.
