It was a topic being discussed animatedly within earshot that we would happily repeat verbatim, but given the sensitive nature of the subject, we’re choosing to leave the names out of it. A veteran of the Indian music industry was chatting with an author about the local rock scene and, not surprisingly, sex, drugs and rock n’ roll were recurring subjects. The elderly gent went on to recount how a beefy Bollywood star was “so drugged out” at a recent awards function that he couldn’t string a sensible sentence together. Now the very same star is playing brand ambassador to a firm that promotes healthy living — no doubt inviting many a sneer from those in the know. Well, appearances may be deceptive but let’s not forget that gossip is cheap.
