Earth Hour update: Arjun Kapoor encourages you to embrace your dark side!

He won kudos for offering his face to the initiative the first time around and now Arjun Kapoor is back for an encore. The beefy Bollywood star is all set to pledge his support for Earth Hour by joining the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in ‘switching off’ at 8.30pm on March 28. The Earth Hour campaign aims to encourage an interconnected global community to share the opportunities and challenges of creating a sustainable world. It was kicked off as a lights-out event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, but has grown into a global phenomenon in less than a decade.

As regards our own Mr. Kapoor, Arjun is clearly a passionate champion of the cause — coming in for the second year in a row to share the Earth Hour message with as many people as possible. This evening, the rising star will shine bright at the Green Fair in Central Park (Connaught Place, New Delhi) as he asks environmentally-aware citizens across the country to turn off their lights and electronic gadgets for an hour, as a stand against global climate change. While the Green Fair will begin at 12 noon today with activities that include up-cycling workshops for adults and children and a handful of cultural performances, you needn’t stand alongside Arjun in New Delhi to make a difference. Start by turning off the lights in your own home and spreading the message to your friends to do the same. After all, Arjun Kapoor has embraced the dark side for a good reason. Now, shouldn’t you?
