Amazing amfAR!

Over a week after it was held, our A-listers are still talking about the inaugural amfAR India Gala at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai on November 17. And with Sharon Stone, Hilary Swank and Ke$ha actively involved — not to mention Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan — it was bound to be quite the talking point! Having just hobnobbed with Prince Charles, Cyrus Poonawalla (who played amfAR India’s title sponsor) continued to hold on to his prime slot on the social circuit. At the black tie event, a gold-themed fashion show featuring exclusive looks by Rohit Bal, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Tarun Tahiliani provided notable entertainment for the likes of Nita Ambani and Parmeshwar Godrej. But despite a high-energy performance by pop sensation Ke$ha (who sang her hits including We R Who We R and Tik Tok), it was Sharon Stone and her tireless effort to raise funds for amfAR’s global HIV/AIDS eradication initiatives who won much of the kudos.

From our friend Sophie Choudhry, who also attended, we hear Sharon was the life of the party — surprisingly because she was so understated. “Both Sharon and Hilary were so grounded and elegant,” says Sophie, “You’d hardly imagine they’re just the hugest Hollywood stars!” Well, real stars don’t need to shout — and that’s because they shine!
