Nimrat Kaur had a bucketful of accolades delivered with ‘The Lunchbox’ last year and has been riding high ever since. Having bagged a part on the award-winning and entirely addictive ‘Homeland,’ Nimrat has been busy filming for the American TV show alongside a stellar cast in Cape Town, South Africa. Playing a Pakistani ISI agent named Tasneem Kureshi on the show’s fourth season, Nimrat certainly seems to be enjoying the filming experience. Even though the actress has confessed that it was “completely out” of her “comfort zone” and felt more like a “workshop” than the real deal, she is quick to add that ‘Homeland’ was a lucky break that will be a superb introduction for her in the West.
Back in Mumbai and catching up with friends last week, we heard Nimrat telling gal pals how Mandy Patinkin (who plays Saul Berenson in the show) was such a pleasure to work with. Grounded, polite and very warm, Patinkin seems to have made our lovely local lass feel very comfortable on the sets. His character does a great deal of mentoring on the show and it seems his supportive stance spills over into real life as well! With just a month to go before the ‘Homeland’ season premiere, we can’t wait to see if Nimrat’s career gets the kind of boost Anil Kapoor got from ‘24’. We’re not the betting kind, but this one is a safe bet — after all, with looks and acting chops in spades, she is bound to go places!
