What To Expect At The Derby This Year!
For those of you who don't have horse racing as part of your list of hobbies, the idea of dressing up and going to a derby event might not hold much interest. But if you thought that Signature Derby was just about horse races, you're sadly mistaken. It's actually one of the biggest social events in the city, and a perfect playground for the rich and famous to mingle. Here are a few things a newbie can expect this year.
Crazy Musical Lineup - It's not just about the horses. This year, the Derby has enlisted top names from the Indian music industry to perform live. With Monica Dogra, Karsh Kale, and even Nucleya, there is an eclectic mix of musical acts to entertain you!
Big Hats And Fancy Dresses - Honestly speaking, the real fun of the Derby begins with seeing everyone all dressed up. It's possibly the only annual event where people take formal wear to another level. No, we're not talking about saris and tuxedos. You'll notice women in perfectly coordinated summer dresses & hats with rather interesting embellishments on them. Don’t be surprised if you find men in waistcoats, bow ties and other three piece morning suits or even sports jackets with trousers and straw hats to give the ladies company with their sometimes-outlandish ones.
Numerous Races - This is a two-day affair where it's not just one glorious race but a number of them. There are a minimum of ten different categories and cups such as The McDowells Signature Premium Trophy, The Antiquity Rare Cup, The White Mischief Cup and a lot more. It is two days of watching the most beautiful prized horses come out and take centre stage.
A Taste Of The High Life - Move over fashion shows and film screenings, the annual McDowells Signature Derby is what attracts celebrities like moth to flame. If you make it to the races, you're guaranteed to see famous faces from among the company CEOs, business tycoons, Page 3 starlets and of course some serious Bollywood attendance. After all, it's not every day that you get to hob-nob with the stars.
Eat & Shop At The Carnival Bazaar - No event as prestigious as the Derby is going to leave you high and dry, or in this case, hungry and thirsty. Expect some delectable food dished out at the various Signature food stalls, which will also serve ample alcohol because no party is complete without it. If you're up for some shopping, there will be a beautifully curated Carnival Bazaar, which is the perfect spot to shop, and it also includes Derby merchandise, which will be the best way to remember this horse racing extravaganza!
So if you haven’t yet, book your passes and get ready to attend the Signature Indian Derby 2015. You can also review your favourite party hotspot over here and stand a chance to win passes!
