Model Diaries: Vijaya Dey
Kingfisher Ultra Bengal Fashion Week that was held at THE PARK hotel by the Storm Fashion Company is over and it has been quite a ride. It’s been a beautiful, exciting and emotional weekend (especially being the showstopper for the fabulous designer Aslam Khan).
This season saw 9 shows during fashion week's 3 days, making it one of the biggest and busiest fashion week in Bengal. The fashion week started of with a dreamy collection showcased by the world-renowned designer Jaya Mishra and ended with Manoviraj Kosla stealing the show with his exotic and diverse collection from white and golden frocks to fabulously bright swimwear.
Other designer's like Rocky S., Agnimitra Paul, Jatin Kochhar, A.D.Singh and Monapali made the crowd whoop and cheer with their rich and artistic collection.
Backstage at Bengal Fashion Week, I counted a total of 18 professionals from The Body Shop tackling the models’ makeover. If only we had such a team at every fashion week. When you are thin, tall and good-looking, everyone says you should be a model and an actor. I decided to model and act because it was completely different. If I didn't try, I wouldn't have got an opportunity to be a part of 3 Bengali films 'Teen Kanya,' ‘Mrs. Sen' and 'A Political Murder' and walk the runway as a show stopper for designer Aslam Khan (A great honor thanks to Gaurav Sharma of the Storm fashion company) for Bengal Fashion Week Season 1.
Modeling is exciting but exhausting but with the support of Gaurav Sharma and stage managers - Lovell Prabhu and Rahul Dev Shetty, they made our jobs simple and flawless at the Bengal Fashion Week.
