Model Diaries: Phoebe Lawson

This Cape Town beauty has a silhouette reminiscent of a Fifties movie star, and deep green eyes that will make a poet out of the most ordinary man. Despite that, Phoebe Lawson tells LIVEINSTYLE.COM that she’s had some awful encounters with the opposite sex in India. Read on for insights on how you might attempt to circulate in the same rarefied orbit as she does. Not being creepy should be a good start.

On her workout regime

“When I am back in Cape Town, I exercise every day. I used to surf a lot, but now I only hike and do a lot of power-walking. I also do yoga.”

On the SIFW 2013 designer she’d love to wear off the ramp too

“I really loved Drashta’s collection — I actually wanted to steal a lot of her clothes (laughs).”

On the worst pick-up line she’s ever heard

“When someone tries to pay me and treats me like a prostitute. Something like, ‘How much for the night?’ It has happened to me here in India!”

On her dream date

“I already have a boyfriend (collective groan!) so I don’t have a dream date. But, if I had to pick one name, it would probably be Bradley Cooper.”

On the model-turned-actress she admires most

“I would say Charlize Theron — she is South African as well. She’s a big star now, but she started off as a model.”

On her professional ‘Signature’ moment

“Last month I was in Italy for a catalogue shoot, which was memorable. But this (SIFW 2013) has been my favourite job in all my eight years of modelling. Coming to India — travelling across this great country, experiencing an elephant ride, staying at The Taj — has been fantastic!

Her beauty secret

“Tea tree oil is a miracle. Also, clean off your make-up and keep yourself hydrated.”
