5 Reasons why RCB is the boldest team around
March 09, 2017
There are good teams, there are great teams and then there is The Royal Challengers Bangalore. In a game that’s as unpredictable as cricket, results can swing in the blink of an eye. One unreal performance can create a hero and a bad one can vilify them instantly. That’s cricket in India! To play, perform and to live up to the expectations of millions of fans takes not just skills, but character and that is where RCB rules the roost. It’s not just a team with exceptional talents but a unit with superhuman character, a fearless unit altogether. Here are five reasons why it is the boldest team around.
Great leadership does wonders to a team’s performance, and one young fearless man seems to swear by it. Yes, Kohli! Our very own Virat Kohli. With only a month to go before the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starts, the Indian team suffered a big loss against Australia, in their first test in Pune. Reacting to it, the flamboyant Captain, who leads the RCB side said:
"The last time we had a performance like this [in Galle, against Sri Lanka], we had the most outstanding run after that," Virat Kohli, Captain, Indian Cricket Team and RCB
All those who followed the IPL auctions for the 10th edition of the tournament were certainly surprised with a few picks and drops. In a game that’s considered to be dominated by batsmen, buying a bowler for a whopping 120 million was jaw-dropping. That certainly was a real #PLAYBOLD moment and skipper Kohli backed it by saying:
“A huge boost for us - specially Tymal Mills! Having played against him just now in the series against England I can vouch for his skills as well so very excited to have him on board.” Virat Kohli, Captain, Indian Cricket Team and RCB
T20 is a game of fours, sixes and a deafening buzz around the stadium. But hold on a little, till we hear what RCB has to say about one of its rookie spinners. Yes, you guessed it right, about Yuzvendra Chahal.
"We have a lot of spinners who are not only run-containing bowlers but also wicket-taking bowlers. That is why I always back someone like Chahal. In the IPL too, I use him in most of the matches. He never says no to bowling with the new ball or bowling in the middle overs, so having a guy like this is great," Virat Kohli, Captain, Indian Cricket Team and RCB
For someone, who’s just playing his second game in a high intensity tournament like the IPL, it’s not easy to be confident, unless you are an RCBian. Aussie pacer Kane Richardson, who helped seal a win for his IPL franchise – RCB, said in an interview that they are going to be a scary team, no matter where they play.
"I am pretty happy to be on their team and I am pretty lucky to be able to sit in the change room and watch them play. Once we get our fielding and bowling right we are going to be a scary team no matter where we play", Kane Richardson, Fast bowler, RCB
Fearsome top order
A team list that starts with names like Chris Gayle, AB De Villers, Virat Kohli and Shane Watson does radiate fear. There’s no other team that can boast of such power, class, consistency and ability that this team does.
