Unconventional Date Ideas For Valentine's Day
It’s that time of the year again. When all the lovey-dovey couples will be making their lovey-dovey plans. With romantic dinners, late-night movies, mushy gifts, chocolates, flowers and a sea of red heart-shaped balloons.
But what about all of us more level-headed people who understand the importance of doing something special on this day? We don’t want to buy into the hype of Valentine’s Day but still want to make it memorable!
Here’s a list of unfake date ideas to make this Valentine’s Day something you’ll remember for years to come.
Take a Hike:
A great way to ensure you get a few hours alone with your special someone. Pick a leisurely walk, not too long or strenuous so you’re not out of breath and can still murmur sweet nothings in each other’s ears.
If you can’t get out of the city, you could opt for a late night bicycle ride around town together. Maybe stop for ice-cream, gaze at the stars, gaze at each other. You get where I’m going with this.
A marathon (on your couch):
Stock up on the finger foods, some wine, and an adequate supply of video games. Get your game face on and challenge your significant other to a video game tournament. You could raise the stakes by making “friendly” wagers. (wink-wink)
Show some Class:
Another great way to spend time together on Valentine’s Day is to sign up for a class. Pick something that both of you are in to, like art or pottery. Or aim for more brownie points by picking something that you know she’ll enjoy a lot more than you will. A dance class, maybe? Or a cooking lesson?
Paint the town (and each other) red!
I know what you’re thinking. There’s no way my girlfriend would enjoy a paintball date. She might be a little unsure at first, but once she gets a few shots in and the adrenaline starts pumping, it’ll be hard to get her to leave the arena. She’ll be that into it! Keep that rush going and make this a Valentine’s Day the two of you will never forget!
Pay It Forward
This V-Day, you might want to think about celebrating love of a different kind. The two of you could volunteer to spend time with the less fortunate and celebrate the day with them. You could choose to help out with street kids, maybe at a home for the elderly, or perhaps even an animal shelter. It might not seem like a fun date, but the joy on their faces will make it completely worth your while!
However you choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, be it the conventional way or our offbeat suggestions, keep in mind that it’s a day to celebrate love and share special moments with your loved one!
