Spring Break Drinking Traditions… Hic Hic Hooray!

When the sky is azure blue and the flowers in full bloom, it’s not the birds alone who chirp in glee... It’s also that time of the year when people, step out for a season of fun, frolic and festivity… yes it’s time for Spring Break! It’s time to don your beach wear, douse yourself with sun block and of course grab a six pack of chilled lager.

Usually a phenomenon with US university students, Spring Break today is celebrated across the world by people of all ages with couple of weeks of uninhibited, hedonistic fun around the same time as the March Madness sporting season begins. There is plenty of sport among Spring Breakers too and we’re not talking about the wet tee-shirt contests! Spring Breakers whether in Vegas, Palm Springs, Cabo St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Sydney or even good old Goa, have one thing in common – legendary drinking traditions. So let’s take a glance at the top three and you may just remember some wild times!

Keg Stands and Keg Offs:

A party with a few kegs of beer sure has its advantages. Kegs hold a good amount of beer and are cheaper for a large group than most alternatives. Of course it has led to its own cool string of games which have claimed their spot in drinking culture. There’s the infamous keg stand where one has to do a handstand on the keg and guzzle as much beer as possible from the tap. It became so popular that it created its own competition of sorts, to see who can stay up for the longest time and gulp down the most beer. Sounds fun right?

Beer Pong:

Another game born out of US is Beer Pong. It is a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the goal of landing the ball in a cup of beer in the other end. Usually two teams compete with ten cups each, lined up in neat triangle formations on both sides. Each team takes turns in attempting to shoot the balls into the opponent's beer cups. If a ball lands in a cup, also called a 'make', the beer is consumed by the other team and the cup is taken off. The first team to eliminate all of the opponent's cups is the winner!

Body Shots:

As the name suggests this one is a sexy tradition. A body shot is a shot of alcohol, usually tequila, which is consumed off a person’s body. The shot is usually placed in an erogenous zone, the navel being the most popular.

Try a hand at some Spring Break fun. Party Hard but don’t forget to Live Responsibly!
