World Cup parties and true cricket fanatics: Can you spot one?
Firecrackers come out from hiding just in case 'Men in Blue' hand us another epic win like the last World Cup. Yes, four years is up. Just days into the World Cup and a high pitch of excitement resounds when a four or six is smashed out of the park. Work schedules are altered to be able to catch glimpses of the matches and the parties. Well, what I can say, it’s all centered around the game we worship.
Of course if you’re a diehard cricket fan, what better way to express yourself than abstaining from wearing your traditional club attire and trading it for your Indian team jersey. There is nothing better than wearing your heart on your sleeves and showing support for your team. A more enthusiastic fan will go the extra mile and paint his face in the team colours or even don a wig to further show his undying love for the sport.
Leg before wicket
The only legs a true cricket fan at a party will be interested in won't be the ones of the hot girl with a short skirt, but the leg before wicket that is showing on the TV screen. Leg glances, leg byes and leg spins have a whole different meaning to a cricket fan. You will find them glued to the screen while a match is being aired or even if there are reruns. He will also be constantly on his phone to keep stealing glances of the score.
To a non-cricket fan, everything a cricket fan says at a party will go over their head. Conversations will be cricket centric of course, and the entire match schedule will be learned by heart. He will be the one who geeks out animatedly after every ball is bowled or a shot is played. With his ongoing commentary, he could qualify to be the next coach for the Indian team.
