Whatever your relationship status is, here are 5 songs from our very own domestic soil and 5 from across international waters that you will enjoy no matter how many times you have listened to them before. These 10 songs will help you celebrate love. No man is an island. Love and friendship are at the very core of happiness. So sit back, and get consumed by the sweetness of the emotion.

1.Gary Lawyer – Nights On Fire

If you are a fan of early MTV, you will remember this as the most played song off of Gary Lawyer’s debut album, "The Other Side of Dawn". "Nights on Fire" was so popular at one point that, according to Gary, "You could set your clock and every two hours it would be on TV.” If you’ve ever really loved somebody, those words and that voice will speak to your soul. And at the end of the first listen, you are not likely to resist the urge to push the play button again.

2.Chandresh Kudwa – Princess

If you are a guitar enthusiast, Chandresh Kudwa will need no introduction. “Princess” is a song he wrote for his wife. From his ‘Axe-tortion’ series of live performances, you are likely to remember how fondly he speaks of her while introducing the song. Here, he plays it before a hand-held camera at home. One take. No edits. Pure love.

3.Indus Creed – Can’t Wait Anymore

“Can’t Wait Anymore” is a ballad by Indus Creed from the time they used to go by the name of Rock Machine. It featured in their 1988 debut album “Rock n’Roll Renegade”. There’s no video for the song. So allow the melody to conjure up bittersweet visuals of your own love story inside your head.

4.AR Rahman – O Humdum Soniyo Re

It’s not always that you stumble upon a Bollywood love song that boasts a funky bass line, some teeth-breaking rap, a raspy rock singing voice, and an inexplicably beautiful melody. Kunal Ganjawala's voice and AR Rahman’s musicianship will command every bit of your respect, if they haven’t already. If you like it enough, do share the link with your friends abroad so that they know that Bollywood has come of age. Tell them the industry is no longer about Jitendra and Sridevi dancing around trees lip-syncing to ‘Ting Ting Ghanti Baje’.

5. Sanjeev Thomas (featuring Ujjayinee Roy) – Tanha

I discovered this song only accidentally while making this playlist, and I’m so very glad I did. Not only does it feature Sanjeev Thomas, whose music I’ve been a fan of, it also features my childhood friend Ujjayinee Roy. Ujjayinee’s voice could move mountains… make the clouds break loose… and melt the hardest of hearts. Listen… fall in love.

6.Van Halen – Can’t Stop Loving You

Watch couples of every age, size, shape, and orientation celebrate togetherness as Sammy Hagar sings with his heart on the sleeve and Eddie Van Halen pushes the limits of his guitar. At the end of the video, a smile is guaranteed… as is a phone call to that special someone who you miss the most.

7. Europe – New Love In Town

This song features in this playlist because of its bridge. It goes “And everyone I met has made me what I am today. And every choice I made has led me here today. And every time I see your face I find my way.” The very classy video is an added bonus.

8. Bon Jovi – Thank You For Loving Me

If you want something from deep within your heart, the universe is believed to rearrange itself to make your wish come true. All that it seeks in return is gratitude. If you have love in your life, be grateful… for it is a luxury that many crave for. Thank your special one for the gift. Draw inspiration from this song, should you feel the need.

9. Joe Satriani – Always With You Always With Me

Not every musician can weave a meaningful story out of thin air. Not every musician can communicate without the use of words. Not every musician is a soul-whisperer. Then again, not every musician is Joe Satriani. Let the sound of his guitar heal your wounds. Dim the light, and allow your lips to curl into a smile.

10. Guns N’ Roses – This I love

In ‘This I Love’, Axl Rose bears testimony to the fact that the body of a hard rock singer may age, but if he stays committed to his life’s purpose, his voice never will. It’s the beautiful coming together of passion, skill, and genius. Feel the horses running through your veins as the video plays on. Quite a video too.
