Get Lost With Prost!

Bangalore loves its microbreweries, so when a new one opens, it?s bound to attract a lot of curiosity and interest. We decided to check out the newest microbrewery on the block, Prost Brew Pub at Koramangala. Prost (pronounced P-rost) means cheers in German?we sure hoped the place would live up to its name!

As far as first impressions go, Prost strikes you as seriously cool. The décor is fabulous, giving a classy face to good old industrial grunge. A bright red post box sits snug by the stairs, an assortment of spanners dangle off the adjoining wall. A curious array of glowing heavy duty pipes light up the ceiling. What we drank 2-what we drank We decided to put Prost?s brews to the test. The Bangalore Bolt (a light, wheat beer) caught our attention thanks to its name, but was slightly flat and didn?t quite live up. The Red Alert (Irish red ale), with its rich, malty character, was a welcome surprise. We liked the Spinner (amber ale, a Prost special) ?appreciating how the subtle yet delicious aftertaste did not overpower the natural tasting notes of the brew. The star of the day, without a doubt, was the fantastic apple cider (on the menu: Cider Rider). It was just perfect in every sense! No other microbrewery in Bangalore offers apple cider, so a double win for Prost right there. What we ate 3-what we ate Unlike a lot of other pubs and brew houses we?ve been to, Prost scores well on the food. The much-talked-about overloaded nachos completely lived up to the hype?it is almost sacrilege to visit Prost and not order a plate! We loved the polo saltin bucca?green olives wrapped with marinated chicken strips, a popular Italian classic. The harissa chicken skewers were well spiced but a little too dry, though the accompanying creamy jalapeno dip was lovely. For vegetarians, a must-try is the mushroom duplex?crisp fried mushroom with a cheesy centre. The flavours just explode in your mouth; it is absolutely delicious! Final verdict! 1 Prost has a wonderful atmosphere. The sound of laughter mixes in with the popular club music and the occasional clinking of glasses. With excellent service, good value for money and beautiful, sprawling interiors, Prost is poised to become of one Bangalore?s coolest and hippest watering holes.
