Hotspots That Let You Party Like It's NYE Every Night!

Don’t be where you are tolerated. Be where you are celebrated. Don’t hide behind empty bottles in dim cafes. Be where you feel like a kid in a candy store... where you can flaunt your true colors and celebrate life, with your Yaars & a peg of McDowell's No.1. Here are five party destinations where it feels like New Year's Eve every single night. If you have been there before, do share your experience. What good is the comments section otherwise [2Blue smiles]?

The Irish House — Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel

Perched above the courtyard at Highstreet Phoenix at Lower Parel, this is a party spot where you really need to squeeze yourself in over a weekend. Everyone turns Irish after two pints of beer, and everyone becomes a friend after another three. Also, if you like classic rock, Oh boy! You are going to love this place. Do check their Facebook page  for special events. So far, they have had ‘Something Relevant’ and ‘Zedde’ destroy their hearing. But if you had to choose between these aforementioned bands, choose the latter [2Blue laughs]. The amazingly friendly staff is a bonus.

Tryst — Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel

Tryst is located just above The Irish House. Remember the movie ‘Rockstar’ starring Jennifer Aniston and Mark Wahlberg? Remember the after-party that follows his first show with his dream band? That’s what I thought I was in when I visited Tryst after having performed at The Irish House downstairs with Zedde. There is something about the place that will make you want to believe you are in a movie. The lighting is just that crazy, the people are just that good looking, and the music is just that good. And since I’m the lead singer of my band, I was in the circular VIP enclosure in the center. Oh my God! You really have to visit the place to know what I’m saying!

Blue Frog — Todi Mills, Lower Parel

Blue Frog needs no introduction. That is Mumbai’s best indoor concert venue as far as acoustics and sound engineering go. For the benefit of the uninitiated, that’s the venue that boasts performances by the who’s who of the music scene, both locally as well as internationally. They entertain musicians across all genres. Blues, jazz, soul, funk, rock, and everything in between. The focus is on original music though. And that’s the reason self-respecting musicians love the venue so very much.

Big Bang, Bandra

There aren’t too many clubs that play hour-specific genres that make your best memories flash before you from distinctly separate chapters of your life. Picture this. It’s 9 pm. And, you and your friends are crooning away (and even borderline dancing) to Madonna’s ‘La Isla Bonita’. And that’s followed by BillyJoel’s ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ and so on. Now it’s 10 pm. And you are rocking out to AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ only to be followed by some Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith. Big Bang is a blessing for the music fan in you. If you haven’t been there yet, you should.

Rude Lounge, Powai

While Mumbai is generously peppered with Rude Lounge outlets, the one I’m thoroughly impressed with is the one at Hiranandani Garens, Powai. With the Powai hills brushing it on one side, it really is beautiful under the moonlight.

And of course, it plays music that makes me suspicious that they knew I was coming. So if you are around my age, you are likely to like it. My age? Ah, please don’t embarrass me [2Blue laughs].

So don't wait up! It's time to Party In Style, like every eve is a New Year's eve, at these hippest party hotspots with your friends and a smooth sip of McDowell's No.1.

2Blue (a.k.a Tirthankar Poddar) forayed into the Mumbai rock circuit in 2000. Having gained notoriety for his powerful high-pitched singing and on-stage charisma, he was soon invited to sing for Vayu. After 5 years in Vayu and countless monumental shows, 2Blue formed the hard rock band Zedde (pronounced z?d). Always a man for his heroes, the self-taught singer attributes his vocal prowess to his childhood heroes: David Coverdale, Joe Lynn Turner, Ian Gillan, Ronnie James Dio, and Bruce Dickinson. For him, if a thing was good once, it always is.
